"175 Years of Learning at Holmston"
That was the headline in the "Ayr Advertiser" after last Saturday's Anniversary Summer Fayre. They printed a two-page
centre spread with colour photos of the school and the Fayre, and
a history by Mr Burnett - see our School News for details.
This weekend, the whole school is on holiday again, on
Friday and Monday, for the May Bank
Holiday. Life Outside Holmston has
more snake-handling, holding tarantulas, that kind of thing!
In our Former Pupils section, Ronnie Greenwood writes in from Tokyo...
P3/4 have been "Getting About" (that's what their project's called) into the town, using maps to visit the Library,
the Auld Kirk, and the Cinema. Back at school they had to draw their own maps of the town.
In a couple of weeks they're going to the Airport.
After weeks of preparation, the whole school is going to "Dynamic Earth" in Edinburgh this Thursday.
On Monday 5th June, Holmston's record-breaking Football Team (see
earlier issues) are playing
Kincaidston in the Final of the Mackie Cup at Dam Park Stadium in Ayr. Kick-off is at 7 pm.
And on Wednesday 7th June, weather permitting, it's School Sports Day.
