December 2000 Update

Former Pupils' Reunion

One of our planned activities, from the beginning of the Anniversary Committee, was a social gathering for Former Pupils of the school.

Mr Queen's letter to the "Scots Magazine" in October last year, and other items since, asked Former Pupils to get in touch. Sandy Murdoch and other Former Pupils set up a sub-committee to organise a Reunion in the school.

Sandy's people worked hard to hold an Open Evening on Saturday 25th November, as a Saint Andrew's Night gathering. They issued invitations to Former Pupils through our mailing list and through the local press.

On the night, Former Pupils had a chance to visit the re-designed school building, to relive a few memories and to see round today's classrooms.

Later there was a buffet meal, and the opportunity to spend more time with former classmates, and the classmates of any of brothers or sisters who went to Holmston.

Jimmy Brown, another Former Pupil, a contributor to these pages and a volunteer assistant at the Ayrshire Archives, used material from the school and FPs to put together an exhibition of school history.
