Orienteering,
Thursday 17th May
At half past ten we went down to the Dolphin House.
We sorted ourselves into groups of four.
In our group there was I., S., C. and A.
We had a practice run to warm us up and to get us used to
the orienteering grounds. We had to find hidden objects
and note down the letters on them. Much later we had to
use problem solving skills to rearrange the letters to work
out a hidden word.
After everybody had finished the first course we went to
the real course. This was a lot harder. In our group
this time were A., I. and C.
Henry started us
off and we ran to the first marker which we found easily.
The second was in the gardens and that was easy to find as
well. The third one gave us trouble. We ran all
around the gardens looking for it. We were going to
give up when C. accidentally found it in the car park.
We then ran to the next one. It was at a path junction.
We then worked out where the next one was and ran down a narrow
path towards it.
The one after that was very hard to find because somebody had
moved it. Luckily A. found it and we sprinted towards the
last marker and then jogged to the finish.
We finished with a
good time and won the competition.
