Saint Andrew's Night Reunion

Former Pupils' Reunion

Another planned activity, from the beginning of the Anniversary Committee, was a social gathering for Former Pupils of the school.

Mr Queen's letter to the "Scots Magazine" in October 1999, and other press items since, asked Former Pupils to get in touch. Sandy Murdoch and other Former Pupils set up a sub-committee to organise a Reunion in the school.

Sandy's people worked hard to hold an Open Evening on Saturday 25th November 2000, as a Saint Andrew's Night gathering. They issued invitations to Former Pupils through our mailing list and through the local press.

On the night, Former Pupils had a chance to visit the re-designed school building, to relive a few memories and to see round today's classrooms. There are names and pictures in our FP section.

Holmston Coat of Arms, Latin motto 'Altiora Sequamur' roughly translates as 'Aim for the Highest'

Later there was a buffet meal, and the opportunity to spend more time with former classmates, and the classmates of any of brothers or sisters who went to Holmston.

Jimmy Brown, another Former Pupil, a contributor to these pages and a volunteer assistant at the Ayrshire Archives, used material from the school and FPs to put together an exhibition of school history.
