Holmston Heroes...

Holmston Heroes

Three boys from the school were surprised to find a thief run into the playground one Sunday afternoon, while the school was closed.

The thief had broken into a retired Headmaster's house in Castlehill Road, stolen his wife's handbag, and run off.

The Holmston boys ran after the thief, with the help of three older boys (former pupils from the school).

Though they weren't able to stop him, he was forced to throw away the handbag, which ended up on the small roof above the door (photo).

The bag was returned to a grateful Mrs Reid. Mr Reid, who used to be a Headmaster in Girvan, brought money to the school as a reward.

Mr Burnett handed out the rewards at the end of the Harvest Assembly and commended the boys for their actions.
