"Our Dynamic Earth" and Holyrood Palace, continued...
The dome of "Our Dynamic Earth" is just a short walk from Holyrood Palace.
The Police stopped the busy traffic to help us cross the road...
There's all kinds of scary stuff in "Our Dynamic Earth" - it's about the forces that make the Earth what it is - Earthquakes,
Volcanoes, Glaciers, and the Animals that live on the earth now and before. Here's a Sabre-Toothed Tiger!
Ice helps make the Earth what it is, and to remind everybody what it's like, there was a real Ice
Berg in one room to touch. So cold,
you can still feel it in your fingers when you think about it.
There was lots more to see, at Holyrood and at "Our Dynamic Earth". The exhibition had sea life, stars, weather, and much more.
On the way home,
a chance for a quick nap on the bus...
...before getting back to Ayr, and the hundreds of parents who crowded into Ashgrove Street to
welcome the buses back.
Everyone said they had a great day out. We should try it again some time... maybe in 25 years?
Acknowledgements to everyone who took part - the Anniversary Committee, who had the original idea
and raised most of the money; all the School staff, who put in a long day, and particularly Mrs Kennedy and Mrs Jobson, who planned the
trip; and everyone in Edinburgh - "Our Dynamic Earth", Historic Scotland, the Royal Parks Constabulary; and many more.
