Westdiep, Belgian Frigate, Newcastle
After LIFE Interactive World, our reporter headed down to the harbour, where we found a warship tied up and
open for visitors on the Sunday afternoon.
It turned out to be a Belgian Frigate on a visit to Newcastle, the "Westdiep", F911, one of 3 frigates in the Belgian Navy.
It had guns, missiles, radar, the usual things to interest small boys, so we took a look around...
There's a Belgian Navy web site with details of their fleet at

Below, the River Tyne looked nice as the sun went down, looking along the river to some of the bridges...
Across the river, you can just see another white ship sometimes famous in Glasgow, the "Tuxedo Princess" (a floating disco). She used
to be tied up beside the Kingston Bridge on the Clyde.
