Bright Purple Rucksacks... and Bright Red Anoraks

Slip, Slide, Slither, Bang

We had to go up to the Heads of Ayr to get our rucksacks before we could go on our walk. That was how Tuesday started. Once we had got our rucksacks, which were bright purple with yellow writing on them, we got out the bus, and put our bright red anoraks on. Then we started to walk from the Heads of Ayr to Dunure.

It was only two groups because the other group had to take their bus up to Dunure so we would have a bus to go back in.

We left our bus at the Heads of Ayr for the other group. We walked down to the rocky beach. Then we split up into our groups. My group leader was Tracey.

We looked at some rock pools and we looked for semi-precious stones called agates. Suddenly M. started to go hyper. Me and R. were trying to calm her down, but she just got worse. She started singing and making us all laugh. We got to a slippery bit where all the rocks had slimy stuff on them.

 Walking to Dunure

M. was still singing at this bit. All of a sudden I slipped on a rock. I fell and bumped my head. I had skinned my elbow and my knee. R., M., Tracey and Mrs R. came rushing over to see if I was OK. I felt a bit dizzy but M. made me feel a bit better by cracking a joke. I got up, still feeling a bit dizzy but I was OK. Mrs R. gave me a hanky to dry my tears.

M. calmed down a bit after that but she was still a little bit hyper. We had our lunch and made our way to the bus. We were walking for about 6 hours. I had a good day and so did everyone else.
