Louise Crabtree (1968-71), now Jeffrey, wrote to us from London -
"I am based in Bromley, Greater London and have spent
almost the last year creating the website for my children's school,
Highfield Junior School. It is now live but not completely finished and I'd
like to know what you think about it. There may be a possibility at some
point to work out some way of the two schools co-operating. If you like it
you may want to link to our site and we could do the same. Our url is:
www.highfieldjunior.com
"Our school only covers year 3 to year 6, so also have a look at the infant
school site (we operate as two separate schools, with separate headteachers,
governors, etc but are based next door to each other) which I had no
involvement in setting up:

"I'd love to hear your feedback. You can email me here or at my home email
address...
"With best wishes

Louise, thanks for getting in touch, your site looks pretty good, I'll take a more detailed look now that I've
finally got this October issue together. Meanwhile, maybe some of our readers will take a look too.
Averil Graham, now Vestal, wrote twice from Fort Worth, Texas -
"I found your page and it was a nice surprise. I always knew Holmston was
special, I had such a good time there.
"Some of my classmates were Norman
Faulds, Valerie Nimmo, Suzanne Nixon( (what long pigtails she had),
Jennifer Thompson ( I met her brother at the DFW airport), Telfer Ross, oh
I could go on and on.
"One time that I remember and maybe someone can put
a date on it , it was summer (we really had summers then) it was really
warm and someone gave the school apples they were given to all the
students in a fun way.
"The "jannie" brought them out to the playground
and tipped the boxes out , the apples rolled all over the place and we
chased them down. Please put me on your mailing list.
"Averil Vestal nee Graham."
and then
"I was so excited I didn't give any information about myself when I wrote
this morning. I was at school with Norman Faulds and Suzanne Nixon and
all the others.
"I reside now in Fort Worth Texas. I have been in the
United States since 1963.
"I come home quite often and took my grandson
Thomas to Holmston one time, he was very well received.
"Miss Murray was
the first teacher I had. I started in P2. I would like very much to talk
with former pupil of my time. Please put my e-mail address on the list.
I saw Norman's pictures on the Ayr web page and tried to contact him
through that.
"Keep up the good work and Sandy let me know when you get
another reunion together.
"Averil Vestal (Graham)" (address supplied)
Thanks again for getting in touch, Averil, you told us later you'd heard from
Norman and Susanne. The "apple distribution" you remember, I think Norman or Susanne has mentioned,
as a donation of apples sent by a Former Pupil in Canada, in the years just after the war when
fresh fruit and sweets were relatively scarce. Getting the "jannie" to start an apple hunt, must have been fun.
