Baltic Mill

Baltic Mill

During the summer, another short trip to Gateshead, near Newcastle, to visit the new Art Gallery at Baltic Mill, a huge old flour mill.

The Mill has five huge floors of paintings, sculpture, and other art, and fantastic views along the River Tyne. It's just opened, and was very busy, though there was plenty of room for everyone.

They've built a new footbridge to walk across to the Mill from Newcastle - an opening bridge, a bit like the footbridge at the Big Idea in Irvine, but much bigger and fancier. It's made of two curved bits of steel, and the bottom part lifts up like an eye-lid to let ships through.

Baltic Mill

Right, the view from the top of this huge building. There's more about the Baltic Mill on the Internet at www.balticmill.com.
