Class Certificate, Norman Faulds
Norman sent us this Certificate of Distinction, which he was awarded for coming first in examinations in class
Infants 2 in 1949.
The certificate shows the Coat of Arms of the old Ayrshire County Council, which ran Holmston School from the 1930s
until the formation of Strathclyde Regional Council in the 1970s.
The Coat of Arms includes the tower of Ayr, which also appears in Holmston's own badge, created in the following year.
Norman sent us a photo of the old Fort in Ayr, in the mid-19th century, on which this tower is probably based.
