Former pupils write in...It's been a quiet month for FP contacts after the earlier e-mails at Christmas and New Year. Norman Johnston (1941-7) in Brighton, and Averil Graham (1949-56) now Vestal, in Texas were in touch in January, to confirm a new e-mail address and to ask for details of the Holmston Jig, we'll try to contact Anna Richmond (1933-39), now Monro about the Jig soon. Jeff Wilson wrote to us again from Brampton, Ontario, replying to Donna McDougall's e-mail and looking to get in touch with some of you. His mail's on the next page, after the piece on Ann Knight's visit in the autumn, and Donna's letter. Next, a small confession. The Editor's PC broke down in October and lost all the recent e-mail Address Book entries. We had backups of everything else but have lost recent e-mail addresses and may not be able to get them back. If you've been in touch with us by mail, please drop us another mail just to confirm your name and e-mail address, to HolmstonPS@dial.pipex.com. We're always glad to hear from new Former Pupils, too. Thanks! The list of people who've contacted us since 1999, starts here. We got an enquiry from Greg McGarva and family in Seattle, looking for details of any McGarva family contacts before the turn of the 20th century. He'd seen that we have former pupils called McGarva. If anyone wants to get in touch with him, please let the editor know. We don't give out your e-mail addresses but will pass messages sent to us which seem to be in good faith. You don't have to answer! Over two years ago, in November 2000, we held a Saint Andrew's Night Reunion of Former Pupils, for the 175th Anniversary. Sandy Murdoch and his volunteers put on a great show, with a historical exhibition, and a Saint Andrew's Night meal for nearly 100 people. With additional material from the school and the Millennium/175 Committee, including the Music Club performing the Holmston Jig and a set of Scots songs, it was a memorable night. We've kept our report from this event, including a list of names, a a group photo and others. Below, a crowd of Former Pupils gather round old photos, trying to put names to the lists beneath... 
We've also got 149 entries in the Visitors' Book for the day. People came from as far as Perthshire to the north, and Sussex to the south. We've also had e-mails and letters from former pupils around Scotland and around the world, from as far away as -
and in Ayr, as close as Saint Andrew's Street, Craigie Lea and Hilary Crescent.
On the next pages, we have new contacts, then notes from a couple of Former Pupils who describe their feelings on hearing of the Anniversary, the proposed FP Association and our Web Pages. Several FPs have contributed reminiscences of their time at the school, which we've used in the History "mini-series" features - Jimmy Fairlie, Norman Johnston, Jimmy Brown, Susanne Nixon, Moira Anderson, Lesley Bloomer, were just the first of many. A former Head Teacher, Mr Bob Garven, took part in the first Millennium meeting in 1999, and attended the Reunion in 2000 but, sadly, died in February 2001. We've an appreciation written by a Former Pupil, and a fuller obituary from "The Herald". Mr Garven was a strong character with a lot of modesty. He was decorated for bravery as a pilot in the RAF during the Second World War. The newspaper article is full of interest for Former Pupils and others who knew him in later life.
